Since Mark Kilian and I were Music Supervisors, Music Editors and Composers on the film, we had the unprecedented ability to really ensure that all the music elements in the film worked seamlessly together.
We worked closely with Lance Stehr and Zola from Ghetto Ruff records – auditioning thousands of Kwaito songs for the movie.
Tsotsi was an incredible journey for us – all the way through winning the Toronto Film Festival, our Tonight Show with Jay Leno appearance with Vusi Mahlasela, right up to Oscar night, when we grabbed the biggest prize in film.
